> Corporate Design

> Restorations (In House!)

The price of a restoration depends of the amount of Digital Time required to complete the project.
We charge $40/hour for Digital Time. There is a minimum charge of $10.

The customer will receive a high resolution completed image on a CD. From this CD, they can decide what size print they would like to make.

We do not retouch the original print. We scan the image and do our best to correct it digitally.

> Retouching Images

This is the same basic principle of the restorations.

$40/hour - $10 min. Each client is given the corrected image saved on a CD.

There are different levels of retouching that the client can choose. We can cleanup faces in a portrait. For example, soften facial shine, whiten teeth, clean up blemishes, remove stray hairs, remove eye glass glare, and much more.

We treat each photo on a case-by-case basis. Both of the printers at the store have a well-rounded knowledge of Photoshop and do the best they can with what they are given.

Frequently Asked Questions

> Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why should I use Van's to print my digital photos when I have a printer at home?

A: Home printing is great for a few, quick prints. Dont forget, when printing multiples or a special project, the investment in materials (ink and paper), the mistakes that occur, and the amount of time usually required for that special result. Let Van's do all that hard work at a fixed price. Plus, we use inks and paper that help the image last a lifetime.

Q: How do I get my prints to Van's?

A: Images can be dropped off or mailed on disk , other memory media, or photos. Images can also be transmitted electronically. Contact Van's for instructions on electronically transmitting images. Once received, all images are inspected by Van's experienced staff for being appropriate for the use required. Van's staff will contact you via e-mail, phone or fax (as requested) with any questions that may arise.

Q: When will I get my print?

A: Normal turn-around time is 5-8 working days (2-3 to print, then 3-5 to deliver).

Q: What are the shipping and handling charges?

A: Shipping and handling within the US is included in the print price. Shipping rates to other countries vary by country.

Q: Do I have to pay sales tax?

A: Yes, Sales Tax will be charged.

Q: What shipper do you use?

A: U.S. Postal Service, FED EX or UPS may be used.

Q: What methods of payment are accepted?

A: We accept personal checks , Visa or Mastercard.

Q: May projects be picked up at Van's store in Mentor?

A: Yes. Customer visitations and pick-ups are welcomed.

Q: What kind of photographic paper is used?

A: Matte Photo Paper. This is a good quality photographic paper with fine grain and rich color, and the highest archival longevity of any photographic paper available today.

Q: Does the image fill the paper, or will there be borders?

A: It fills the paper. An image's aspect ration (the ratio of width to height) does not always match that of the photographic paper. In those cases, the image will be enlarged until it fills the long dimension of the paper.

Q: I have a digital camera but the pictures are not as clear as they should be. What can I do?

A: The documentation booklet that comes with your camera is a great place to start. Check the compression settings on the camera. Make sure you are creating the largest file possible and check the "white balance" "White balance" is a registered reference point of white light for digital and movie cameras. The color of white changes due to the light source used reflecting from objects. Different light sources will produce different hures. If you learn to adjust your camera's reference point for these different hues, problems can be avoided. Thankfully, digital media is not costly. Try adjusting your camera's white balance by shooting and reviewing several photos. Practice makes perfect. Check out the many free seminars and classes that Van's offers.
